Learning Traditional Chinese Radical 部首 2

 

In the last video I shared the 部首 of 五行, in this video let's have a look at the 五感five senses and 五官facial features.

五感 is the senses of 視覺 sight, 聽覺 hearing,  味覺 taste, 嗅覺 smell, and 觸覺 touch

They correspond to the 眼 eye, 耳 ear, 嘴 mouth, 鼻 nose and 膚skin

五官 facial features, are 眉 eyebrow、眼 eye, 耳 ear, 嘴 mouth, and鼻 nose

Let's have a look, you can see that they all have eye,  ear, mouth and nose.

So, today's 部首 are 目、耳、口、鼻、肉

目

目 related to the eye or seeing something, so we have eye and the thing above the eye is the eyebrow

we also have 看see and can not see  盲blind

耳

耳 related to the ear or hearing something, so we have 聽 hear and can not hear 聾 deaf

口

口 related to the mouth and the sound you made by the throat. so we have 嘴 mouth and 喉嚨 throat

口 also refers to the entrance or exit of the passage.  so we have  入口entrance and 出口exit

Using 口 as a measure word is not common these days, but you can still use it to say how many people are in a family. For example, a family of four.

Note that many words have 口 but don't have the above meanings.

鼻

鼻 is the nose, an organ on the face, that's all. 

I'm checking the words that use 鼻 as 部首, and I can't recognize them, so I think you just need to know that 鼻 is the nose in your daily conversation.

There is one phrase that I can remember related to 鼻 is 鼻祖. It means founder. Choosing 鼻, it's because the ancient Chinese believe that the nose is the first organ in the embryo to start growing.

But the word founder will be translated to 創始人, 鼻祖 is rarely seen in daily conversation.

肉

肉flesh is the soft inside part not only of a person or animal but also of a fruit or vegetable.

肉 has two types

There is a special part you must note that this is not two parallel lines, so it's not 月moon, be careful not to mix them up.

now we have 豆腐，this one we have 膚skin, they all related to flesh.
