In the last video, we talk about 膚's 部首 is 肉.

In this video, I would like to show you the rest 部首 of the body.

Let's take a look at the body.

皮

The word skin is usually translated as 皮膚, so it means 皮 and 膚 is the natural outer layer that covers the body, But since 膚's 部首 is 肉, so 膚 is basically used in the human body, the 皮 could be more widely used in other things. like 獸皮animal skin, 果皮fruit peel, 起司的外皮cheese rind, etc.

髟、毛

Do you know those thin thread-like structures that grow out of your skin?

Those are hairs.

The hair on the top of a person's head is called 髮 or 鬍鬚, and the rest of the hair below the neck is called 毛.

髮's 部首 is 髟, so we have 頭髮hair, and 鬍鬚beard

毛 such as 皮, could be more widely used in other things so we have 絨毛 fluff, 羊毛 wool. and 羽毛 feather

身

身 means body身體, its meaning is basically like body,  is not only human or animal, but all kinds of things, it could be the whole physical structure of things, sometimes it means the metal shell of a vehicle. so we have 車身 car body.

There is a word 身份 that you should note that has two meanings, one is identity and the other is status, when it comes to 身份地位 it means status, but sometimes we will just use the word 身份 in a conversation instead of 身份地位.

手

I put 手 at last because there are a lot of words that use 手 as 部首.

手 means hand has four types

The most common is this one

Since it means "hand," it is related to things that you do with your hands or with the hands of others.

So we have

助手assistant：someone can give you a hand

高手master：Someone who can handle things well

手工handmade：something you made by your hand
