Learning Traditional Chinese Radical 部首 5

In today's video, I'd like to show you the 部首 of stars.
We have the sun, the moon, and others. Since the ancients only knew the sun, the moon, and other twinkle-twinkle little stars, let's get started.

When we look at the sky, all the stars are the same in our eyes, except for the sun and the moon.
so we have

日、月、辰

日 means sun, also known as 太陽
月 means moon, aka 月亮
辰 means star, 星辰

日 can also mean 日day, 白日daytime, and the most common is date 日期.
月 also means 月份 month and 歲月 years, note that's plural.
辰 is also used to mean 時辰 the time of day.
時辰 and 星辰, both are the classical Chinese words that we still use, but not commonly. Nowadays, 時辰 is called 時間 and 星辰 is called 星星.

You may think 日、月、星 look similar, give me a try, I have a modern way to show you how to memorize these three words.

This is 日 and this one is 月, in astronomy, we know that the Moon orbits the Earth, but the Sun does not. So 月 has feet!

This word is the combination of 日 and 生, we should know this 生 first.
生 is 部首 as well. It means 生命 life, 出生 birth, or 產生 produce, so basically it means to let people or things exist or means life itself.

So we know that in astronomy, the light from the star is reflected by the sun, so 日 plus 生, sun plus produce will be 星.
Now, could you memorize these three words? No? well... forget what I just said.

日 and 月 can also be combined, it becomes 明, add a 天 after it and it becomes 明天tomorrow.
