Recently, my family injured his foot, so he has been in the hospital for a while. An injured foot will make a person unable to move freely.

As a result, in today's video, I would like to share the 部首 related to foot and movement.

First one is 

足

足 means foot, has two types 足、 𧾷

跛足 lame also known as 跛腳, so we could know that 足 and 腳 both mean foot.

we also have 跪 and 躡手躡腳

跪 means kneel and 躡手躡腳's meaning like tiptoe, tiptoe means to walk on your toes with the heel of your foot lifted off the ground, especially in order not to make a noise, 躡手躡腳 mean the same thing, in order not to make a noise, your move you hand and foot quietly.

Now, we have foot, we should use it to walk, so, next are 

走 and 辵

走 means walk, we have

• 赴約/赴會 mean attend a meeting or date
• 超越 exceed
• 走味 mean foods or beverages taste off or go bad.

辵

辵 have 3 types, 辵、⻎、⻍ most common is this one ⻎

means walk back and forth, so we have

• 巡邏 patrol
• 迂迴 roundabout, means that you cannot go straight across the road, but have to go around a circular area in the middle of it. 迂迴, as well as the word roundabout, you can use to describe a way that is not simple, direct, or quick.
• 遊走 rove around

If you wonder why this 遊 is familiar, it is because when you change the 部首 to 水, it becomes 游 swim.

So if you are moving on land, use 遊

And when you move in the water, use 游

They have the same pronunciation.

Walk for a while, is time to stop, we have 

止stop

• 止步 stop walk
• 公正 fair
• 武器 weapon, there is a  phrase 止戈為武,

We already know that 止 means stop, the word 戈 is 干戈 for short, 干戈 is an ancient term, connoting war, weapon, etc.

為 in this phrase means "is"

Combining 止 and 戈 is called 武, which is used to describe the word shape.

This phrase means that the word "武器" has an important meaning: When we use weapons, we want to stop the war, not attack anyone.
