In the past few months, I have classified a lot of 部首 and introduced them to you, but many 部首 cannot be classified, so in today's video, I would like to show you the 部首 that are common, but can't be classified.
The first one is 言,
it's related to speech, speaking and words.
It's so important, isn't it? We use language to communicate, so language means 語言.
When we talk說話 to each other, some people will lie 說謊. So be careful not every word people say out loud is the truth.
Next, 貝Shell, the shells of small sea creatures.
There is a record that 商朝 The Shang Dynasty (1600 BC-1045 BC) used the shell as currency so this 部首 will be related to money and business activity.
This means we have 買 buy, 賣 sell and 貨 merchandise.
The next one is 門.
門 means gate or door.
A flat object used to open or close the entrance to a room or building, we call it a door 門.
So open the door is 開門, and close the door is 關門.
The device used to keep a door or gate open or closed is a latch 門閂.
宀 means roof, the roof of a building.
Can you imagine it based on how it looks?
The building we live in is house 住宅. Let's say a house is a simple space that has a roof and four walls, and you can stay inside of it, that place inside a building we call an indoor室內.
A large house that is the official home of a king or queen is called a palace宮殿.
彳 is related to step and walk.
I have a true story. One night I was walking行走 along the street near a park and I saw a man standing near a tree, it seemed he had no clothes on his upper body. It was a summer night and he was probably jogging and waiting等待 for his friend behind him, that was normal, right?
So, I just keep going. But a few minutes later, when I go back to the same street, I still saw him wandering徘迴 there, and suddenly he ran away as fast as he could, with his whole naked body.
I came home and told my family what I had seen, and we came to the conclusion that men probably have an affair with someone who lives nearby and the spouse comes home, so this man ran away without clothes.
