How To Use: 空頭支票、跳票、空白支票

空頭支票 Dishonored Check 

• 解釋：
  A check that a bank refuses to pay. Metaphorically speaking, we use this term to describe promises that seem good but cannot be fulfilled.
• 例句：
• 他答應要幫我的承諾只是一張空頭支票，他從來沒有實現過。
• His promise to help me was just a dishonored check; he never followed through.

跳票 Check Bounced

• 解釋：
  A check that the bank won't pay, usually because there are insufficient funds in the account. When someone can't fulfill a promise, we also call them "跳票."
• 例句：
• 在選舉時，很多候選人會選前大開支票，選後馬上跳票。
  
  In elections, many candidates write big checks before the vote, only to bounce those checks once they are elected.

空白支票 Blank check

• 解釋：
  A blank check does not specify the payee, amount, or date, but it does include the payer's valid signature. 
  In Taiwan, this term is not used as metaphorically as it is in English. When Taiwanese say "空白支票," we always mean it literally.
  
• 例句：
• 當你說英文的老闆說要給你一張空白支票，那不是真的給你一張支票當獎金。
  
  When your English-speaking boss says he's going to give you a blank check, he isn't actually giving you a check as a bonus.
