My Buzzword Woes：普信男

 普信男 is a trending Chinese slang term that's a shortened form of "普通卻充滿自信的男人".


  普通卻充滿自信的男性
  A man who is ordinary but overly confident.

It describes a man who has average looks, achievements, or financial status, yet possesses an unwarranted or excessive amount of self-confidence. 

Usually, they mistake kindness for romantic interest. However, if a woman acts aloof, they assume she's playing hard to get. They'll make what they think are humorous remarks that often leave others feeling awkward or embarrassed. They also enjoy criticizing and "guiding" others, but their advice is usually unhelpful or even terrible. Even worse, when things don't go their way, they blame everyone but themselves.

When I first saw this term, I actually thought it referred to men with common beliefs, which didn't make any sense.

  A man who has a universal belief.

But when I saw this post on Threads, it suddenly clicked for me!






巨嬰 means who is an adult body, infant mind.
普公嬰 and 蒲公英(dandelion) have a similar pronunciation.
